About Fused Glass Art
I love designing and making fused glass, Electroformed, and metal art!
— This is how it all started —
I first saw this beautiful art process when I attended a charity function in Seattle, WA, and was amazed by the beautiful colors and shapes of the fused glass art. Then years later in Orlando Florida, I signed up for an introductory class in fused glass at the Maitland Florida museum of art. I found my perfect artistic medium. Since that time, I have tried to communicate my art and imagination through my fused glass.
I make my glass pieces by hand cutting shaping and assembling layered pieces of different types of compatible glass. The stack of glass is then fired in a kiln up to 1500 degrees and fuses as one piece. The process takes 24 hours.
Then the piece can be placed on or in a mold to create unique shapes this process takes another 24 hours. I love fusing, because heat moves the glass, and you never know what you will see when you open the kiln. It’s very exciting
Electroformed Jewelry
As a fused glass artist, I am always looking for unique ways to add elements to my art that could take each of my pieces of art to the next level. If you’ve been looking online or visiting the many unique boutiques in your neighborhood or when you’re been on that deserved vacation you must have come across what I think is a very unique artform electroformed jewelry.
Once I was introduced to the technique of electroforming I had to learn everything about it so I could incorporate electroforming in my art. As I gained the knowledge I wanted to document my electroforming journey on my blog https://www.hobbyistgeek.com/ please check it out.
Crystals and Gemstones
I started to add crystals and gemstones to my electroformed and glass art. My introduction of crystals and gemstones to my art added elegance and a healing element to the crystals, gemstones, and copper used in my rings, pendants necklaces, bracelets, etc. I also included a lot of interesting information on https://www.hobbyistgeek.com/ .
